Night Night

Benson is 19 months old now. He is learning so much and is super active. He definitely keeps us on our toes. He does many cute things, but one I want to share with you is his "fake" sleeping trick. My mom actually taught him this. She says, "night night Benson" and where ever he is (even if its not his nap time) he lays his head down and waits for you to say, "okay, get up". I did this with him the other day, and this is the sweet face I got looking back at me as he patiently waited for me to say, "okay, get up Benson". img_5177-blogNow who doesn't love a face that cute!

Feathered Shoes

I've had a few people ask where Carrie got her shoes from. I had asked, but sort of forgot. She sent me an email last night and said she got them from Nordstroms. Then she creatively attached the feathers that she purchased from Hobby Lobby. LOVE IT!Thanks Carrie for sharing.

Star of the Month

When I was in elementary we had "Star of the Week", for we were the Preston Smith Stars.  If ya want I can sing the song for you too.  Ben even knows the song because I sing it every now in then and it now sticks in his head :)  Holla holla "Star family".  You know your singing the song right now and sing it proud my friend. I've been thinking of how I can give notice to my wonderful clients who are also regular blog readers and commenters.  And the days of my childhood came to mind.  So, I am having a "Star of the Month" to showcase my wonderful clients.

How do you qualify to be a "Star of the Month"?

1. You have to be a client of mine.  If I've taken your picture, then you are a client.  If you want to be a "Star of the Month", but are not a client-then call me up and lets get somethin' set up :)

2. You must also comment on my blog, not facebook, but the blog www.cristycross.com/journal.  You can comment on any blog entry as many times as you want.  Don't be shy!

3. Ummm, I don't really have a number three but I feel like there should be one.  So #3 is, you have to love your life in some way or another because I'm going to ask fun questions, and I want to see your happiness shine through your answers.

My first "Star of the Month" is Katy Brack.  She is a sweetheart.  She is a friend, a client, and an awesome writer.  I enjoyed very much reading her answers.  I have taken family pictures for her with her immediate family  before she had a baby, and now I've taken pictures of her baby boy as a newborn and at 6 months old.

I knew when I sat down with Carrie and Barrett and Carrie's mom and sister that I was going to have fun with this wedding. They have a crush on my all time favorite store, which is one of their most favorite stores too. The ideas they were telling me they wanted for the wedding decorations and simple detail touch had me excited and on the edge of my seat. I think by viewing below you'll know why...My all time favorite was the cotton candy station ccp1-copy Vendor info: (all located in Clovis, NM) Location: Underground Embassy Invitations: Amy Wilson Flowers: Forever Bloom Details: The Rucker family and Debbie Merritt

Lindsay and Byron.Photobooth

You might remember some of these people from last year Why do a photobooth at your reception? The pictures of your guest are much more memorable this way. Who wants pictures of their guest eating, and standing and talking. With the photobooth, you get to see their creative side. For example...
If you are interested in having a photobooth at your reception, send me an email to cristy@cristycross.com, titled "Photobooth"

First Look. Carrie and Barrett. New Mexico Wedding Photographer

Carrie and Barrett were married this weekend and they opted to see each other before the wedding. Why should the bride and groom see each other before the wedding you ask? Well rather than me tell you, let me share what all of my bride and grooms have told me. -You are much more relaxed. The day has barely started and when you opt to see each other before the ceremony, all of the stress and nervousness leaves your body and you are able to enjoy the day more. -The wedding and reception were in the same building and it is easiest to see each other before because then we can take all of the family pictures before the wedding  and we don't have to leave our guest waiting at the reception. -Seeing my future husband for the first time was still sweet and memorable. It was just the two of us and that made it more special. -All of the pictures are done before the wedding, including the wedding party. -We were able to hang out together before the ceremony started.

I think you can tell by looking at Carrie and Barrett's  face that they were excited to see each other...

Carrie.The Bride

Carrie and Barrett were married last night and it was fabulous :)I have been waiting patiently for their wedding day just so I could show you how gorgeous she looks as a bride. These are some of my favorites from her bridal session...

cr__9754blog1cr__9744blogcr__9706-blogcr__9658blogcr__9609blog1cr__9695blogcr__9637blog I took lots of pictures of her shoes because they were just too fun.

Christina and Jeff. New Mexico Wedding Photographer

Christina and Jeffs wedding took place at the Rose Garden in Clovis, NM. One word-beautiful. That sums up the weather, the bride, decorations, lighting-EVERYTHING. It was all beautiful. This was my first time at the Rose Garden and I'm hoping not my last. I loved working there because there were so many great places for pictures and great locations for me during the ceremony for me to get just the right image for Christina and Jeff.Just sayin, if you are getting married in Clovis in the summer and want the Rose Garden, pick me to be your photographer!!

I also wanted to share a sweet note I received from Christina and Jeff two days after their wedding:

Dear Cristy, Thank you for everything. From the engagement session until the end of your wedding. Your work is absolutely beatuiful and I'm so thrilled to have these awesome photographs from our special day. We'll always treasure them. May God continue to bless you and your beautiful family. Love, Christina and Jeff

The reason I'm sharing this with you is not to toot my own horn or and brag about anything. I show you this because this is from a client that was truly happy with choosing me as their photographer.  I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't see my clients as clients.  I see them as friends because that is the relationship we end on when all is said an done and the reception is over.  I still hear from them even after the wedding with a little shout out on FB  :)  I also want to say that I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing if it weren't for God.  He has aloud my career path to be a photographer and he has given me a talent I take no credit for.  (unless if I screw up, then I'll take the credit for that)

Have fun in Delaware Christina and Jeff. We'll miss you in Clovis.  bookzell

Labor Day Weekend

Labor day weekend was family and friend time. Danica and Maren are some of my best friends whom I also consider as sisters. I don't have sisters of my own and these girls are the best. The Cross family hung out with Danica and her family and Maren and her family and Benson loves them. I think he even has a crush on baby Marlys.img_3696blog

The mail lady brought me something fun today

I get these Etsy emails daily about fun creative and handmade items. I normally just look through them saying, "oooo, aaaaahh" and go on to the next email.  This time I saw something I really wanted and so I bought it.Introducing my Etsy purchase, a handmade mix plumage feather headband from Bethany

Look at the beauty I purchased.  Simply gorgeous.  I think I'm wearing it this weekend just for fun when I visit some of my bestest friends. img_3541blogimg_3543blog

My little Batman

batmanandsunglasses I can just hear him laughing in excitement when he pulled the glasses from his sweet brownish, grayish, bluish eyes.

Benson loves his sunglasses his grandma pepmeyer gave him and loves to play peek-a-boo with them.  The thing I love about this little guy is he is so playful full of laughter and smiles and is compassionate and sensitive.  He is all of these things and still has a boys side.  He loves to throw things, anything he can get his hands on.  The ball, golf clubs, shoes, water bottles...whatever.  When he plays with kids his age, he pushes them to say, "lets go play."  I have to remind him to be gentle and not push over the sweet little girls.  He is a rough player, but a sweet little lover.  I love his slobbery kisses and how he pokes my eyes out and picks my nose and gives wet willies to my ear as he learns about different body parts.  Our little guys brain is growing and learning so much all the time and it makes our hearts smile and laugh in excitement.  We want him to grow and learn, and then again we want him to stay our little 18 month old boy.  He is now 30 lbs people!! Did you read that as the big 3-0!! Ya I think I pulled a muscle in my back this week actually.  He is almost three feet tall too.   Benson is spending this weekend in Lubbock with my parents, so that we can do a wedding here in Clovis.  I don't know what to do with myself.  I find that I have free time to do what ever I want, but I somehow can't seem to get Benson out of my head.  So after I did some headshots for Women's Medical Center, and prepwork for Christina and Jeff's wedding  I edited pictures I took of BB yesterday.  But I think tonight Ben and I might go to a movie! Whoo hoo!

2010 Weddings

I am already booking for 2010 weddings.  I'm super bummed too because I've had three people all for June 12, 2010 and two for July 10, 2010.  I can only take one for each of those days. Unless...I duplicate myself somehow and shot all of them.  That would be my secret power if I had one.  That and I'd love to zap myself from here to there in a matter of seconds.  Want to go to Italy for dinner. ZAP. I'm there.  Wouldn't that be great. Anyways, my whole point in this post is to say if you are looking to hire me as your wedding photographer for 2010 give me a call very soon.  As soon as you are engaged.  I should be the next person you call after you call your mom.  No seriously, call me now :)

To all the brides that I've had to say no to, I will miss working with you.  Especially the one in San Diego.   That could have been a really fun trip.  I miss Rubios fish tacos.  And to all the brides I've booked already, I'm super pumped to be working with you and I look forward to this journey with you and your family.  It's going to be an awesome ride.

And a little taste of what you could have for your wedding photographs.  Thanks to Chris and Aleisha for being such a beautiful couple.
