You are the best and thank you as i think we have found our new photographer and friend. The boys loved you as did Jeff and II.

Jon and Alicia.California Photographer

We went to Venice Beach for Jon and Alicia's couples session.  They were married Friday evening and had a small and intimate wedding and then I flew out and met up with them on Sunday for their couples session.  Jon was my youth intern for our youth group at church and Alicia and I grew up at the same church.  She was at one point my camp counselor :)  They are very special people in general, but hold a special place in my life, which to me makes them even more special.  I knew the time I had with them in California to take pictures was going to be fun and memorable mainly because Jon is so incredibly random and hilarious and Alicia is sweet and tender and laughs at everything Jon does.  They have been dating on and off since I was in 8th grade.  That was just about 14 years ago.  They were ment to be together and the time finally came for them to be joined as one, as Mr. and Mrs. Jon Matthews. One of the things Jon told me before I arrived in Cali was, "Venice Beach is full of dirty hippies and incense.  You'll love it."  hahahaha.  One of the highlights of Venice Beach for me was the skating park.  Not skateboard skating, but in line skating.  They had music turned up loud and anyone who wanted to could skate around, show of their tricks and just skate.  It was so cool.  Something you definitely don't see everyday.  I was very intrigued and wished I had a pair of skates and enough nerve to go out and join the other skaters.

Thanks Jon and Alicia for flying me out to see you and to be apart of your first days of marriage.  I hope you enjoy...

Oh, one more thing.  I was inspired by  Jeremy Cowarts work and wanted to try something new on this post.  Just something a little different than what I normally do.  Its fun to play outside of the box every now and then. And I can't forget to mention their dog, Mei Mei. She is 60 lb bulldog, wearing a very lovely tutu around her neck that some fellow friends of Jons made her. So sweet.

Star of the Month.Bri Saban

I took family pictures for Bri Saban this past June. I had a fabulous time with her family and ever since taking pictures for her, we have been in touch every week in some way or another. She is a fun spunky momma with a sweet and caring heart. You will see what I'm talking about as you read her answers below. Thanks Bri for being a devoted blogger as well as a sweet friend and encourager. You are wonderful and I think your family is pretty darn cool :) brisabanblog

Jon and Alicia.California Style.Together 4Ever

This is a wee bit over due and at the moment I only have one. Last Sunday I flew in to Las Angeles to photograph some wonderful friends who just got married two days before I arrived. I thought this was a great sneak peek because this picture to me just says Jon and Alica. Not just Jon or just Alicia, but the two together. On a different note... We are finally in our house and moving in all of our stuff. If you have emailed or called I will return your messages as soon as I can. Thanks for being patient and I'll post some pictures when I have a moment.

Enjoy and good night.

Dreams do come true...

We closed on our house TODAY!! I'm sorry I don't have an updated picture of our house, but I will soon. I just wanted to let you know I'll be out of pocket for a little bit the rest of this week with moving in to our new home. I also have a session tomorrow afternoon in Clovis, and then one in Hereford, Tx on Friday. Thankfully our parents have offered to take care of Benson while we do all of this, but we are missing him like crazy and can't wait to get him back on Saturday. If you have sent me an email or called I will get back to you, but it may be a few days.

Thanks for your patience and for your excitement in this fun time of our lives.

Blessings, Cristy

Ben is 30!!

We are celebrating something wonderful today and that is Ben's birthday!! He is 30 you guys!! It is so hard for us to believe it. We had lunch today with some of his co-workers and celebrated. One of his birthday presents was the vintage bow tie I got off Etsy.com. Don't worry folks, he was only wearing the tie combo just to see what the bow tie looked like. The wedding industry has brought the bow tie back, and I'm hoping Ben will help bring it back in his work place. It looks really snazzy :)The rest of the celebrating will come after we are in our house. As for now, we will be packing up and moving in THIS Thursday! Can't wait!

Happy birthday Ben-my best friend and sweetest husband ever!! img_6922cblog

You will recognize Carrie and Barrett as well as Jourdyn. Also take a look at Kathy Elliott on page 15.  I took her headshot and I think she looks gorgeous :)cristycrossphotowib09-copyblog

Our NEW house

I am officially announcing we are moving! We are staying in Clovis, but moving to a brand new home for our family. This picture was taken back in the summer and the house looks nothing like it does now, but when I get a good picture of that I'll post it and let you see. This house came about all out of no where. We weren't planning on moving or looking for a house, but our friend showed Ben this house and then Ben showed me and Benson the house and our brain starting thinking. We thought maybe this could be our house. Just maybe. We prayed diligently for God's wisdom on this and asked for him to show us a sign if the house wasn't for us and if it was for us to bless it and keep things in his control. As the summer went on and we were picking paint color, cabinets and flooring things just kept moving right along. In the end God has blessed us with this new house that we were able to customize for our family and we weren't even looking. This house would not be ours if it weren't for God. He has blessed us and we will forever be grateful. Building a house has challenged us to be patient and faithful in Him. We watched this "baby" (the house) grow from the beginning and now it is going to hold our family in it. Blessed be the name of the Lord, bless it be His name. img_6221

Fall Session Season and Benson

I am no longer taking sessions for 2009. I am completely booked to the very top for the Fall season. Also,  I am already booking portrait sessions as well as weddings for 2010. If you are interested in a session or wedding in 2010, please send me an email at cristy@cristycross.com and I'll get you the information you need.

On another note...Benson is 20 months old. He says giraffe (raff), blue, red, fish, gold fish, and chew chew just to name a few. Oh he also says bath. Its so cute. He also says another word that sounds like the S word. We can't quite figure it out yet, but it cracks us up. We know he's not saying that, but we have no clue what the word is. Here's a sweet picture of our little BB at 20 months. benson20_8024c
